Recording mode: pre-recording an event in Web Studio

Web Studio lets you record a session without broadcasting it live. This is useful when you want to capture a webinar ahead of time and publish it to your audience later. Nothing is shown to attendees while you’re recording: the event stays in its pre-event state the whole time.

How to pre-record in Web Studio

1. Open your event in Web Studio.

2. Click Setup and choose Setup Recording in the popover (instead of Setup Live).

3. Wait while the stream comes up. The button shows “Setting up…” and a Setup in progress banner appears in the middle of the header. When the stream is ready, the button changes to Reset setup.

4. When you’re ready to begin, click Start Recording.

5. Click End Recording when you’re done.

6. The status changes to “Processing video”.

7. Once processing is finished, the recording is automatically attached as the event’s main video.

8. Web Studio then asks if you want to publish the recording. Publishing from this prompt uses the raw recording as-is — no edits or trimming. If you want to edit first, close the prompt and use the event admin instead.

What happens to your recording

• After processing, your recording automatically becomes the event’s main video — the file viewers see when they open the event page.
• The recording does not automatically publish the event at its scheduled time. You still need to publish the event manually from the event admin, or use Premiere to publish it at a scheduled time. You can also edit the recording before publishing.

Good to know

• Recording mode never broadcasts to viewers. Your audience won’t see anything on the event page while you record.
